The Quetta Gladiators won their 2ndconsecutive victory in the PSL 4 under the brinkmanship of Captain Sarfraz Ahmed with their latest win against the Islamabad United Today they are looking to keep their momentum strong
The Gladiators were set to chase a 158 runs target by the Islamabad United and reached it with relative ease through the exceptional batting performance of opener Shane Watson who scored 81 runs off 55 deliveries. Shane’s innings featured 4 sixes and 6 fours.
The most exceptional point of the game was that Watson had been clean bowled by Sami when he was just at 28 but due to an infraction at his end with Sami’s wrist flicking the stumps off the ball was declared a no-ball even as his delivery blew the bails off at the other. Umar Akmal batting at the middle pitched in a valuable contribution of 44 runs off just 28 deliveries.
Samit Patel of United, Rumman Raees and Cameron Delport claimed a wicket each.
Islamabad had earlier posted 157 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs innings at the crease after the Quetta Gladiators Skipper Sarfraz won the toss and invited them to bat first at the crease.
Even as they lost 3 wickets initially with just 8 runs on the scoreboard the defending champions managed to recover enough to post a competitive total.
Top scoring was delivered through All-rounder Wayne Parnell who picthed in with 41 runs off 20 deliveries, with the help of middle-order batsmen Asif Ali and Hussain Talat who scored 36 and 30 runs each.
All rounder Sohail Tanvir tooj impressive wickets tally of 4 off 21 runs for the Gladiators with Leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed nabbing 3 wickets for 15 runs.
The Quetta Gladiators are currently at the top of the table and will face Multan Sultans in their next match of the tournament, on 20thFebruary in Sharjah while Islamabad United will be facing Peshawar Zalmi on 22ndFebruary, at the same venue.
